To copy an instrument

to use in a separate project, do the following:

Expand
  1. Go to “Online Designer” on the project that the instrument you would like to copy is located on

  2. In the “Data collection Instruments” box, click on “Choose Action”, select “Download instrument ZIP”

  3. The ZIP file will then downloaded and saved on your computer (generally saved in Downloads)

    1. NOTE: You may need to compress the file on your desktop prior to uploading

  4. Next, go to the “Online Designer” on the project you would like to upload the form onto

  5. Click on “Upload” at the top of the “Data Collection Instruments” page (note: project needs to be in development mode or draft mode to do this)

  6. Click “Browse” and find and open the ZIP file you just saved.  After it's been selected, click on "Upload instrument ZIP" in the box on REDCap

  1. Go to "Project Home" of the project you would like to copy and click on the "Other Functionality" tab at top

  2. Here, click "Copy this project"

  3. Next a page will show up about making a copy (looks similar box shown in image below).  Change the Project Title and any other necessary changes. 

  4. Next click "Request Copy".  The REDCap Support team will then review and contact you to proceed.
