Important Considerations

A copy of your approved IRB document(s) that notes SMS/ text message communications is required to utilize this service. To meet A2P 10DLC Campaign registration requirements Opt-In assets are also required. Please plan accordingly before submitting a request for Mosio Services!

Opt-In Description:

Phone carriers will evaluate the opt-in workflow. All methods below do not bypass the need for the IRB to have approved the study for SMS communications prior to requesting SMS services.

Acceptable Opt-In methods:

  • Opt-in by signing ICF that notes SMS/ text messaging communications will be used

  • Opt-in by online form

    • Example:

  • Opt-in by texting a keyword in the FIRST message sent to the participant 

    • This works well for studies that are using SMS as their first point of contact or for recruitment purposes.

    • The first text sent to the potential participant must host both the opt-in and opt-out language.

It is the study team's responsibility to configure and manage their Mosio project dashboard and communications with research participants to meet their project needs. The CTSI will handle the campaign submission process with Mosio, then hand the account over to the study team.

Cost of Services

Note

An annual subscription is required to use this service, with other fees as applicable.

If your project surpasses the allocated 3,000 outbound message segments per year, you will be charged a $50 ‘High Message Utilization Fee’and be granted an additional 3,000 message segments. This fee will be applied as many times as necessary.

  • Annual subscription model ($314) includes:

    • Interactive SMS project dashboard & features (single phone number)

    • 2 user logins

    • 3,000 outbound message segments per year

  • If you wish to have additional user logins you may purchase as needed

    • $3 / Month (per login)

  • Message Segments: There are 160 characters allowed in a text message for English. Languages using emojis, accents, or special characters only allow 70 characters per text. Mosio, will concatenate the texts, appearing on the phone as one long message, but sending over multiple segments.

  • If you wish to use Mosio within your REDCap project to deliver REDCap Survey links and alerts, this can be setup with an additional $9 monthly fee.

Mosio provides an interactive texting platform allowing research teams to manage and engage with participants. The platform grants the study team access to their project dashboard to facilitate 2-way text messaging with research participants whether that be a simple conversation, appointment reminders, etc.

The CTSI will handle the setup up your project account with Mosio, however it is the study team's responsibility to configure and manage their dashboard /communications with research participants to meet their project needs.

Cost Summary

An annual subscription is required to use this service, with other fee’s as applicable:

The Annual subscription includes…

  • 2 user logins

  • 3,000 message segments per year

  • Single 2-way SMS Mosio Dashboard (project)

Other Fees: (as applicable)

  • If you wish to have additional user logins you may purchase as needed

    • $3 / Month (per login)

  • If your project uses more than the allocated 3,000 messages per year, you will be charged a ‘High Message Utilization Fee’ and be granted an additional 3,000 message segments

    • $50 (per 3,000 messages/year)

  • Additional REDCap SMS Project phone number: $9 / Month

    For example, if you wanted to setup a REDCap project with Mosio's SMS service in order

    to

    deliver your REDCap project alerts and survey notifications (for the same IRB effort as your 2-way account), you may purchase an additional phone number to facilitate that interaction.
  • You may not purchase another 2-way account for the same IRB effort. Only a single 2-way account per IRB effort is permitted unless otherwise specified with BMIC team.
