101.3 Register a Participant
Now that you have learned what a collection protocol is and have explored the Participant Page and the View Specimen pages, let’s learn how to add participants and their associated data to a CP
Navigate to the desired Collection Protocol from the Home Screen
Click + Add Participant button on Collection protocol Homepage.
Add pertinent participant details by entering data in each of the displayed fields
Registration Date (defaults to today)
Registration Site (In your live system, the drop down will show available locations specific to your lab.)
External Subject ID (optional field to record a subject ID assigned by another institute or project)
Patient demographics (optional fields: enter as prompted)
MRN Fields:
Select a Site from the drop down and enter the associated MRN in the adjacent field. The Site is the hospital that assigned the MRN (e.g. University Hospital or Intermountain Healthcare). If more than one MRN is recorded for a participant, then more than one Site/MRN combination may be entered.
Select the ‘Add Participant' or ‘Proceed to Collection’ button from the bottom of the 'Register Participant' screen.
Add Participant: Select 'Add Participant' if no visit information will be collected at this point.
After selecting ‘Add Participant’, the participant’s overview page is displayed. This page includes the details entered during registration. Any pending visits are displayed below the participant overview.
If any errors are found, select the ‘Edit’ button to return to the previous screen to correct or add additional information.
If you select ‘Proceed to Collection’ you’ll be navigated directly to the specimen collection page for any planned visit.
This step skips the ‘Visit Level data entry’ screen as outlined in the next section and navigates directly to the specimen collection page. Visit level data, such as clinical diagnoses and pathology status, can be entered at a later date if it is more convenient for your workflow.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
Field names and required fields may vary depending on the Collection Protocol configuration.
Always confirm that you are registering the participant under the correct Collection Protocol.
Verify Site/MRN combinations before completing registration.
Review the participant overview page after registration to confirm that the information was entered correctly.
