Stop Logic

The ‘Stop Action’ can be used to stop a survey based on a specific response to a question.

This is often used…

  • On a consent form or pre-screening to stop the survey if the potential participant indicates they do not consent to participate or do not meet the required criteria. 

  • When a participant no longer meets a study criteria and should no longer receive Automated Survey Invitations (ASI). Click the ASI link above if you are looking to implement stop logic for ASI use-case. ASI stop logic process differs from the process shown below.

The Process:

  1. For the stop action to be available, the instrument first needs to be formatted to be a survey.  Instructions how to enable a survey.

  2. On the online designer, click on the small red stop-sign icon in the top, left corner of the question (circled in red in image below). 

    1. This option is only available on the following field types:

      1. multiple choice

      2. checkboxes

      3. Yes/No

      4. True/False.

         

  3. In the "Set up Stop Actions for this Survey Question" box that pops up (shown in image below), select which answers would cause the survey to stop if chosen.  Click save and the Stop Action will be enabled.
