Register & Create New REDCap Project

Note: If you are creating a "Practice/Just for fun" project, you cannot collect real data, they are simply for practice!

A CTSI ID is not required for practice/just for fun projects as they are never pushed to production, however all other projects require a CTSI ID.

"Practice/Just for fun" projects, skip to step 5 and purpose your project accordingly to proceed with submission.

All projects which plan to collect real data in the future must:
- Register project with a CTSI ID
- Request project be created
- Configure project in Development mode & complete testing
- Request your project be moved to production
- Only after a projects ‘production request’ has been approved by a REDCap Administrator may real data collection begin
- As a best practice…
  - Provide a description under ‘Project notes’
    - Project purpose “Other” should not be used

Register & Create Your Project

REDCap is an easy to use, self-service application subsidized for University of Utah research needs by the Clinical Translational Science Institute. Because REDCap is subsidized by CTSI, we request all projects be registered in the ProTrackS system and have a CTSI ID before being created, copied or moved to production.

If you have disparate projects (different IRB #, P.I. & purpose) each project must be registered independently to provide a unique CTSI #.
If you have multiple REDCap projects which are related (same IRB #, same P.I. & purpose) you can register ONCE in ProTracks and use the same CTSI ID for each REDCap project needed.

PROCESS:

1. Follow link: Register your project and request CTSI services now.

2. Click BMIC as the service you are requesting > scroll to bottom of page > click submit

3. On the next page, Provide P.I. information & populate all required fields.

-If your project is for Quality Improvement or Operational Support, provide your information and in the description box type: (QI) or (Operational Support) with a brief description

Note the CTSI # provided to you before clicking ‘submit’ to navigate to the next page

4. After clicking submit, you are taken to your final page. Complete all questions to receive a confirmation email with your CTSI #.

6. Populate the Create new project form with title, purpose:

NOTE: The CTSI ID you receive upon registering in ProTracks should be appended to your project title when you request a new project within REDCap. Prior to project approval your ProTracks registration form will be checked for accuracy and completeness.

Clicking on "Create Project" shown below, a ticket will be opened with the REDCap team to approve creation of your project
When approved, you will receive an email to notify that you have access to design your new project. Your project will then be listed under "My Projects". Approval can take up to 24 hours, please plan accordingly
