Building a REDCap Project Overview
Per University Policy, Real data collection is NOT permitted while your project is Development mode. By default, your project is in ‘development’ mode upon project creation.
Real data collection may not begin until your ‘Production request’ has been approved by a REDCap Administrator: Project Lifecycle
Generalized steps to get started with your build:
REDCap 101:
Review REDCap 101 guides
After your project has been approved, it is in Development mode. In Development mode you will build & test your project BEFORE real data collection may begin.
Consider Record Keeping:
Consider if your project will utilize surveys:
Will you utilize a public survey link or build a private survey?
Build your Instruments
Test your project:
It is critical to test your project in Development Mode to ensure your survey(s) distribute as expected before sending to real participants in production mode
Submit Production Request
How to request your project be moved to Production by a RedCap Admin
Only after your Production Request has been approved by a REDCap Administrator may real data collection begin
