Specimen Events:
Events are available in OpenSpecimen to provide a method of recording processing events on one or more samples. Each of these events has unique fields for recording fields such as chemicals used for processing, duration of event, observations, etc. Each event will always record the user and a timestamp associated with the event.

Record an event using any page where samples are displayed, such as:
CP Specimen List, Cart Specimen List, Container Specimen List, Participant specimen table, Specimen overview page, Query (queries use the ‘Specimens’ button to perform specimen related tasks.)

Select the sample(s) to record an event (example from the CP specimen list page). The filters were used to find the samples to add an event. Each was selected using the boxes to the left of the specimen label. Choose ‘Add/Edit Event’ from the ‘Actions’ dropdown. Note that you can add additional specimens to the list using the box at the top prior to clicking ‘Next’. This is convenient if you have specimen labels with scannable barcodes. In this case we will record a centrifugation event for the blood samples prior to the PBMC / plasma isolation. For this example, choose the DNA samples sent to the Core Lab, which can exist in a Cart. Select all DNA derivatives and choose 'Nucleic Acid Quality and Quantity from the ‘Add/Edit Event’ dropdown.

Reports (queries) of Events
Reports can be created to show any specimens that have an event associated with them or to display the fields associated with that event using queries. Create a query as described <TBD>.
