If the slot into which the sample needs to be transferred to is occupied by an incorrect sample, then that slot needs to be cleared. Or perhaps several samples are off by one and need to be shifted.
If this is the case, you can use the container interface to move the sample locations.
Example:
These 3 samples in E5, E6, and E7 need to be moved to the left into slots E3, E4, and E5. Since the first specimen is located in E5, I cannot simply transfer them without the position of the sample in that location first.
Instructions:
Select ‘Store Specimens’ to open the assign samples box.
In the assign specimens box enter the sample labels to be transferred and precede each with the location into which they should be moved within parentheses and double quotation marks. Ensure the ‘Vacate Existing Specimens’ box is checked. The specimen labels will appear in yellow in the new locations so they can be easily visualized.
Select ‘Yes’ when prompted to move the previously stored samples.
The new locations can be seen in the ‘locations’ view of the box.
