TRINETX: Share a Study

Introduction

After a creating a query in TriNetX, researchers may wish to share study with others to gain insight and/or collaborate with other researchers within the University.

NOTE: This article assumes that the User has some sort of familiarity with the TriNetX platform. The User should know where to find their study on the TriNetX platform as well as how to create a new study if needed. Please review the materials under the Relevant Articles section.

TriNetX is a self-service platform;  the TriNetX team at Biomedical Informatics core at the University of Utah CTSI is available if support is needed.  Simply submit a Help Desk Ticket

Related University policies

Here are some things to be aware of when sharing studies with others:

  • Once a study is shared, all users on that study have access to the queries, results, properties, team, documents, and consultation history for that study.

  • Studies can only be shared with University of Utah(UU) researchers who already has a TriNetX account.

  • If you wish to share with a researcher within UU that does not have a TriNetX account, they must request account by filling out this form before being granted access to the study:https://redcap01.brisc.utah.edu/ccts/redcap/surveys/?s=WANY43XHTN

The Process

  1. You must first Create a study and then build your query using the query builder. You can also share an existing study.
    Review these articles if you do not know how to do perform this step:

     

  2. To share a study:

    1. Log in at live.trinetx.com. you will land at the My Study page

    2. Select the study you wish to share, or create a new study to share.

    3. Select Study Management in the navigation bar located at the left side of the screen.

    4. Select Team under Study Management

    5. Click Share Study

    6. The filter by text field allows you to search for users by first or last name.

    7. Select the checkbox next to the name of the user with whom you want to share the study. You can select as many users as you'd like.

    8. You can include a note to shared users by entering under "Enter message for added and removed users"

    9. Click Save Team, an email will be sent to users with whom the study has been shared. The email will contain a link to the study and the message for why the study has been shared with them.

  3. You can keep working on your query. The people that you have shared your study with can also update query with any feedback, add additional criteria, perform analysis, etc. as needed.
